PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s gymnastics sophomore Kylie Eaquinto was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week after scoring a 9.975 on floor, the league announced Tuesday.
The Cougars had their final regular-season meet on Friday, Mar. 15 against Washington, Sacramento State and Southern Utah. The Cougs took home a second-place finish with their second-highest score of the season, 196.750.
Eaquinto scored a 9.975 with her floor routine, earning a 10 from one judge for the first time of her career. This floor score is BYU’s highest score on the event all season, and helped the Cougars earn a new season-high floor score of 49.475.
The Orem, Utah native has competed on vault, bars and floor for the Cougars during the 2024 season. Earning new career highs on each event, Eaquinto has tallied at least one score above a 9.825 in every meet this year. Along with her career-high 9.975 on floor, her highest score on vault and bars is a 9.875.
