FAIRFAX, California – BYU women’s golf braved inclement weather at the Meadow Club this week but had play suspended halfway through the final round on Monday due to heavy rainfall. Day one with the first two rounds has been made the official results with the Cougars finishing 13th at 19-over-par with rounds of 302 and 293.

"We had a couple of under-par rounds on Monday afternoon, which was good,” BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. "We hit the ball really well and made some key adjustments on the greens to help us.”

Lily McCauley (77-71–148; +4) and Lila Galeai (74-74–148; +4) led the Cougars, both shooting 4-over-par on Monday.

Alexa Udom (T-48, 79-71–150; +6), María José Barragán (T-48, 73-77–150; +6) and Adeline Wach (T-62, 78-78–156 +12) rounded out the Cougar squad.

"Tuesday’s final round had the most unplayable conditions I’ve ever seen,” Roberts continued.  "Hole 14 wasn’t playable today due to puddles of rain, so we played 11 twice. I’ve never seen that, nor will I ever again. The course couldn’t hold much more water, and an unexpected shower came through and wiped us out.”

The Cougars will tee it up next at the Fresno State Classic at Copper River Country Club on March 25-26.
