TRINITY, Texas – BYU men’s golf is set to compete in the inaugural Big 12 Conference Championship at the 7,434-yard Whispering Pines Golf Club on April 22-24 in Trinity, Texas.

"The guys are excited to compete on a championship-style course like Whispering Pines," BYU director of golf Todd Miller said. "I was impressed with our ball striking in the practice round. The guys seem comfortable with the course layout and the grass we are playing on. I will say we did not get the best practice round with lightning and heavy rain on Saturday but it should not affect our play."

The Cougar squad will consist of Zac Jones, Peter Kim, Kenau Akina, Max Brenchley and Cooper Jones, with Brock Goyen traveling as a substitute.

"I am confident that our starting five will represent BYU well in our first Big 12 Conference Championship," Miller continued.

After completing the Western Intercollegiate in eighth place, the Cougars look to build momentum before next month's NCAA Regional. The NCAA Regional selection show is scheduled for May 1.
