TRINITY, Texas – BYU men’s golf is in seventh place at 8-over-par with rounds of 283-292-297–872. Zac Jones, Cooper Jones and Peter Kim all sit in the top 20.

"The team got off to a great start today," BYU director of golf Todd Miller said. "We were 7-under after four holes, and then we started hitting loose shots off the tee and with our irons, and it continued the remainder of the round. If we are going to win big tournaments, we have to learn to manage our game better on the off days. With as good a start as we had, we should’ve been able to shoot even-par or better, but we turned bogeys into doubles and triples."

Texas fired a 13-under-par round to hold the 54-hole lead, with Oklahoma at 2-under and Oklahoma State at 1-under to round out the top three. BYU's third round of 9-over dropped the Cougars into seventh at 8-over-par.

"The third round started hot for the Cougars, with three eagles and four birdies on the first five holes," BYU head coach Bruce Brockband said. "Then we found ourselves struggling the last 13 holes with 10-12 shots in the hazard and some three-putts. As good as we were yesterday finishing our round, today was the opposite. Hope we can eliminate some of our mistakes tomorrow and be more consistent in our final round."

Kim is tied for 11th at 1-under-par after carding 67-72-76–215 in the first three rounds. The Jones brothers are tied for 19th at 2-over-par after Cooper fired the only under-par round for the Cougars in the third round of 1-under.

Max Brenchley is tied for 47th (73-72-79–224; +8) with Keanu Akina tied for 53rd (75-76-76–227; +11).

"I expect the guys to come out and fire a solid round tomorrow to finish our first conference championship in the Big 12," Miller continued. "Peter, Cooper and Zac all have a chance to get a top-10 finish tomorrow with an under-par round. I hope they can get it done."

The Cougars will tee off in the final round beginning at 8 am CDT and will be paired with the Kansas State Wildcats. Live scoring can be found on GolfStat.com. Wednesday's final round will include live coverage on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
