PROVO, Utah – BYU will face Providence on Tuesday, Dec. 3, in the sixth edition of the Big 12–BIG EAST Battle.

The Battle matchups are jointly determined by the two conferences, with the home team choosing the venue of its game. It will include 11 matchups for the second straight season, with the BIG EAST hosting six games and the Big 12 hosting five. Broadcast arrangements for the contests will be determined by the national television rights holder of the home team, which is FOX Sports for the BIG EAST and ESPN for the Big 12.

BYU is 2-0 all-time against Providence with their last meeting coming on Dec. 21, 1982, inside the friendly confines of the Marriott Center. In a 66-52 victory for the Cougars, Devin Durrant scored a game-high 26 points, with Greg Kite just missing out on a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.

December’s matchup will mark the second time the Cougars will make the trip to Rhode Island and first since the 1981 NCAA Tournament, when they defeated Princeton and UCLA at the Providence Civic Center.
