Cougars secure six event wins on opening day of Robison Invitational

The BYU track and field men's and women's multis had a combined six event wins on day one of the Robison Invitational.

PROVO, Utah — The BYU track and field men's and women's multis had a combined six event wins on day one of the Robison Invitational at the Clarence F. Robison Track and Field Complex. 

Day One Results

"Today was a very fun day to coach," said multis/jumps coach Tiffany Hogan. "Each one of my athletes had new personal bests in multiple events, and all of them had a new best in their first day totals. I am excited to see what day two brings for my heptathletes and decathletes."

Zoey Bonds started the women's heptathlon off taking first overall in the 100-meter hurdles. She took the win with a time of 13.85, while also crafting a new personal best. Bonds also went on to take second in both the high jump and 200-meter dash. 

Jaden Roskelley took first in two events as part of the men's decathlon. Roskelley clocked 10.94 across the line in the 110-meter hurdles. He also claimed the top spot in the long jump with a mark of 7.16m/23-6. 

Cameron Bird claimed the win in the shot put as part of the women's heptathlon. Bird threw for a new personal best mark of 11.19m/36-8.5.

Mayci Taylor cleared 1.73m/5-8 in the high jump, posting a season best in the process. She then finished the day by taking another first place podium spot in the 200m with a new personal best time of 25.24.

"I’m happy with my performances today and specifically in the hurdles and 200-meter," said Taylor. "Those times have seemed to be a long time coming. I am super excited to compete tomorrow as day two consists of more of my strengths. I hope to put up a big final score.”

The Cougars will return to action Friday with athletes competing at the Robison Invitational as well as the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, California. The Robison Invitational has had schedule/location changes for select events. See updates here.
