Three Cougars Earn All-Big 12 Honors

BYU junior Bobo Huang has been named to the All-Big 12 Second Team for singles and was recognized as a co-champion of the No. 1 singles position, the conference announced Thursday. Huang tied for the league lead with eight singles victories at the top of the lineup during conference play. Emilee Astle and Kendall Kovick also earned honors from the conference for their play in doubles, tabbed on the second-team list.

IRVING, Texas — BYU junior Bobo Huang has been named to the All-Big 12 Second Team for singles and was recognized as a co-champion of the No. 1 singles position, the conference announced Thursday. Huang tied for the league lead with eight singles victories at the top of the lineup during conference play. Emilee Astle and Kendall Kovick also earned honors from the conference for their play in doubles, tabbed on the second-team list. 

Huang, who posted a strong junior season record of 16-5, achieved the most singles victories in her collegiate career during a season. She tied for the most wins in the conference's No. 1 position and is currently ranked No. 124 in singles nationally.

Astle and Kovick were named to the Doubles All-Big 12 Second Team. The duo holds an 8-6 record this season, highlighted by a win over the nation’s No. 5-ranked doubles team, Anastasiya Komar and Ange Oby Kajuru of Oklahoma State. Astle and Kovick defeated the top-ranked duo 6-2, completing the doubles upset for BYU. 

The Cougars’ honorees, along with their teammates, will face Auburn tomorrow in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. A full tournament preview is available here.
