BYU goes on the road for four matchups this week on the east coast

Coming off the Cougars' two-match Oregon road trip, they head to the East Coast for matches against, Binghamton, Wagner, Villanova and Lehigh.

PROVO, Utah — BYU men’s tennis starts their 4-match road trip on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at Binghamton University at 6:30 p.m. It will stay in the New York/Pennsylvania area until Saturday as it faces Wagner on Thursday at 11:30 a.m., Villanova on Friday at 10:00 a.m. and Lehigh on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. to finish the week. All times are in Mountain Standard Time. 

BYU Notes

  • The Cougars are coming off a road trip in Oregon in which they split matches, picking up a win against Portland State and losing for the first time this season against Oregon.
  • They beat Portland State 6-1 after dropping a tightly contested doubles point. They swept the singles but lost 6-1 against Oregon, with only Zach Fuchs winning at No. 3 singles. Fuchs remains perfect in his singles play.
  • With two consecutive road trips, BYU will play six away matches in a row after starting at home on Jan. 17.
  • The Cougars are seeking their best four-game start since the 2018-19 season.

Binghamton Notes

  • The Bearcats are led by head coach Nick Zieziula. This is Zeziula’s 11th season and is also assisted by Charlie Ellis and Dan Pergel.
  • Binghamton went 16-10 in its 2024 season and made an NCAA tournament appearance.
  • They opened their season 3-2.
  • This is the first matchup between the two programs.

Wagner Notes

  • The Seahawks are led by head coach Jeff Menaker in his third season. Menaker is assisted by Shir Azran.
  • Wagner went 1-20 in the 2024 season.
  • They have not yet played in 2025 and will have their first match at home against the Cougars.
  • This is the first matchup between the two programs.

Villanova Notes

  • The Wildcats are led by head coach Brad Adams. Adams has been the head coach since 2006.
  • Villanova went 7-16 in the 2024 season.
  • It has begun their 2025 campaign 0-2.
  • This is the first matchup between the two programs.

Lehigh Notes

  • The Mountain Hawks are led by head coach Craig Schwartz in his third season. Schwartz is assisted by Lennart Lehmann a graduate assistant coach.
  • Lehigh went 11-12 in the 2024 season.
  • It just competed in its first match on Sunday starting 1-0 in their season.
  • This is the first matchup between the two programs.
