Parents are Soakimi and Pesiola...older brother Tom was a running back at BYU...recruited by all the PAC-10 schools, Nebraska and San Diego State...majoring in sociology.

Before BYU

Lettered four years in football and basketball plus two in track at San Mateo High...Peninsula Player of the Year...all-league, all-county, All-Bay Area, all-state...coached by Buzz Williams (Pacific).

1987 | Freshman Year

Stayed with varsity all year until breaking an ankle in study hall late in the season...carried 24 times for 77 yards and caught four passes for 27 yards...scored a touchdown against Utah State.

1988 | Redshirt Year


1989 | Sophomore Year

Played briefly in the spring game, rushing three times and catching a pass...seeking to regain pre-injury form...was second unit on the varsity...caught a TD pass against utah State and ran for a 29-yard TD against Utah.

1990 | Junior Year

Ran for a 23-yard touchdown and caught a TD pass against Washington State...caught a four-yard pass for a TD and ran for a four-yard TD against Colorado State...rushed for 75 yards and scored three touchdowns at Wyoming...was named coaches' player of the game against UTEP, Washington State, Air Force and Utah.
