Before BYU

Attended Monte Vista High in Danville, California...lettered in football and baseball...named All-East Bay first team offense and defense as well as All-North Cal first team...was honorable mention all-state.

Other College

Attended Air Force Academy Prep School in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for seven months in 1988-89...named Air Force Prep MVP...led team to conference title...recruited by Oregon and Air Force.

1989 | Freshman Year

Saw extensive playing time against Colorado State because of Rocky Biegel's injury against Wyoming...injured his shoulder in the San Diego State game and was forced to miss the Holiday Bowl.

1990 | Sophomore Year

Started the entire season...had 13 tackles against Washington Air Force he had 10 assisted tackles...had 13 tackles, including a sack and two tackles for losses against Utah State...selected as coaches' linebacker of the game against Wyoming, Colorado State and Utah State.

1991 | Junior Year

Was second team All-WAC...broke the school record with 325 defensive points...had 18 assisted tackles against Florida State in the Pigskin Classic...was WAC defensive player of the week against Hawai'i when he had 11 unassisted tackles, 15 assisted tackles, three quarterback hurries, one tackle for a loss and a fumble recovery for 48 defensive points...against New Mexico he had 11 tackles, a pass deflection, three quarterback hurries and two sacks...had 14 tackles, two quarterback hurries and a sack against Colorado State...had seven unassisted tackles against Iowa in the Holiday Bowl...started every game at right inside linebacker...named linebacker of the game by the coaches against Penn State, UTEP and New Mexico.
