BYU's Tyson Shelley shot 17-under-par to finish twelfth in his first Korn Ferry Tour start at the Utah Championship at Oakridge Country Club on Sunday.
The rising junior shot a 3-under-par 68 in the third round on Saturday with five birdies to finish the day tied for 14th. With 18 holes to go, Shelley was just five shots off the 54-hole lead.
With four birdies and an eagle on Sunday, Shelley shot a 3-under 69 to finish in an eight-way tie for 12th. Shelley carded rounds of 65-65-68-69—267, to finish 17-under par. In 72 holes of golf, Shelley carded 22 birdies and one eagle.
Shelley's top-25 finish earns him a start in next week's Pinnacle Bank Championship at the Club at Indian Creek in Omaha, Nebraska.
BYU alum, Carson Lundell, finished the tournament tied for 40th with rounds of 64-68-70-69—271 (-13). Lundell’s rounds included 20 birdies and one eagle.
