Parents are Ray and Manuela...recruited by Tennessee, Kansas, SMU, Purdue, Florida, Wake Forest, Northern Illinois, Western Illinois and Illinois State.

Before BYU

Made all-conference at both offensive and defensive tackles at Bloom High...won honorable mention all-state honors...captain of the football team...lettered four years in football...also a competitive power lifter.

1984 | Freshman Year

Broke his foot for the third time early in the season but returned to see lots of action with the varsity, starting with the Colorado State game.

1985 | Sophomore Year

Started at the offensive guard position, but injured his knee in the Boston College game and did not return to the lineup until Temple.

1986 | Junior Year

Second team All-WAC...started every game...played center during the Oregon State game...offensive lineman of the week vs. Washington, Colorado State, Hawai'i and San Diego of the week vs. Utah.
