  • Has six sisters, two of whom played college volleyball
  • Majoring in political science and Chinese
  • Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Taiwan Taichung Mission
  • Speaks Mandarin Chinese
  • Enjoys playing volleyball, watching the Utah Jazz and eating at Cafe Rio
  • Sports hero is his cousin Ron Wright
  • Also recruited by the Air Force Academy, Utah Valley, Weber State and Southern Utah

Before BYU

  • Starting quarterback for two years in high school
  • Won the 2009 Utah 3A state championship in the javelin
  • Personal best javelin mark was 197-07.00
  • Earned fifth place at the 2010 Mountain West Conference Championships while competing for the Air Force Academy

2015 | Junior Year


  • Moved into fifth all-time on BYU's javelin list with his personal-best mark of 66.58 at the UNLV Randall Cunningham Classic
  • Won the javelin at the Robison Invitational with a mark of 65.28m
  • Took second in the javelin at the Weber State Twilight Meet with a mark of 63.04m
  • Was an NCAA West Prelims qualifier, finishing in 24th place
