DALLAS, Texas -- After battling cold and windy conditions, BYU's seventh-ranked men's golf team finished sixth at the Taylor Made Red River Shootout at the Dallas Athletic Club.
The Cougars were led by seniors Jesse Hibler and Billy Harvey who finished 13th and 17th respectively. BYU who has either won or been in contention to win every tournament this season found itself in a strange position after the first two rounds--the middle of the pack. But the Cougars finished strong, jumping from 11th to sixth place after the final round.
"It was frustrating not being in contention to win this one," BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. "But I challenged the guys to come out today and shoot a solid, consistent round of golf and they did."
BYU finished sixth at last year's Red River Classic as well. The Cougars return to action next Monday as they compete in the prestigious Jerry Pate Invitational in Birmingham, Ala.
