PROVO -- Kyle Perry, a senior at Alta High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, has signed a letter of intent with BYU to run with the cross country and track teams. Perry is one of the top distance runners in the state.
Perry ran a 4:13.63 to finish eighth at the Arcadia Invitational in Arcadia, Calif., a meet that features many of the top prep distance runners in the country. Perry also ran a 4:16 mile at this past weekend's Wells Fargo BYU Invitational despite heavy rain and cold weather.
"Kyle was a highly recruited athlete and I am very excited to sign him as a Cougar," BYU men's head cross country coach Ed Eyestone said. "He is still young and developing but he will make an immediate contribution to the team and he has the talent to be an All-American as he gains experience."
Perry will begin his BYU career for the 2002 cross country season.
