PROVO, Utah -- The No. 26 ranked BYU men's golf team will compete in the Barona Collegiate Cup Oct. 20-21 in San Diego, Calif.
The Cougars will compete against a field of 17 teams including UNC Greensboro (No. 11), New Mexico (No. 23), Colorado State (No. 28), Texas A&M (No. 35), San Diego State (No. 37), UTEP (No. 50), Nevada, Hawaii, Denver, Ohio State, Washington State, Louisville, Fresno State, Wichita State, Alabama-Birmingham and the University of San Diego.
BYU is coming off a third-place finish at the Fresno State Lexus Classic by going 25-under-par with 280-275-286--841. The team has finished in the top-5 in its first three tournaments of the year.
The team will be taking juniors Todd Miller and Greg Machtaler, sophomores Clay Bingham and Oscar Alvarez and freshman Jake Ellison to compete. Freshman Clay Ogden will also be going to the tournament, but will compete as an individual.
BYU will be playing in the 54-hole tournament on the par-72 Barona Creek Golf Club Course, which measures 7,088 yards.
The tournament will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start on both days.
The BYU women's golf team will also be competing at San Diego State with the men's team, but will play on the par-72 Auld Course, which measures 6,029 yards.
