Trio Sign Free-agent Contracts

PROVO -- A day after the final round of the 2006 NFL Draft, three former BYU football players have signed free-agent contracts with NFL teams. Defensive linemen Vince Feula and Manaia Brown have signed contracts with the Washington Redskins, while fullback Fahu Tahi has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Tahi played in 11 of the Cougars' 12 games during the 2005 season, rushing for 479 yards on 89 carries. Tahi scored seven touchdowns on the year, including five rushing TD's. The West Valley City, Utah, native produced 366 yards receiving , averaging over 36 yards per game.

Brown played in 10 of the Cougars' 12 games during his senior season in Provo. The West Valley City, Utah, native totaled 31 tackles on the season, including nine solo takedowns. Brown, a transfer from Nebraska, was credited with three tackles for a combined loss of eight yards, including 1.5 sacks.

Feula, a native of LaMirada, Calif., started seven games at defensive end last season. The Cerritos JC transfer produced 23 tackles during his senior season, including 10 solo stops. Feula was credited with 3.5 tackles for a combined loss of 16 yards, including one sack. Feula also had three pass deflections and four QB hurries.
