PROVO -- Mountain West Conference Player of the Year Ianeta Le`i was named Second Team All-American by the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and Louisville Slugger.

"Neta had an All-American year," BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. "She earns and deserves every accolade she receives. She will be a tough player to replace."

Le`i, who was named NFCA/Louisville Slugger First Team All-Region, was named to the Second Team All-American squad despite posting better statistics in nearly every offensive category than the First Team selection Jenna Hall from Illinois. Le`i ranked nationally with 82 RBI (second in nation, 44 RBI better than the first team selection), home runs with 20 (15th in the nation), with a .786 slugging percentage (14th in the nation) and a .413 batting average (29th in the nation)

Le`i led the Cougars to a 43-22 record, second place MWC finish and a NCAA Regional berth. She recorded a MWC Triple Crown, leading the league with a .540 average, 11 homers and 38 RBI in 20 league games.

The senior from Oahu, Hawai`i leaves BYU as the best run-producer in program history. Le`i was a four-time MWC All-Conference selection and a two-time MWC Player of the Year.

Last season, Le`i also earned Second Team Easton All-American. The 2006 Easton All-American team is still to be announced.
