LAS -- The BYU women's golf team sits in second place, with all five competitors in the top-25 individually after day two of the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational concluded Tuesday in Las Vegas.
"We're doing very well and playing to our potential," said BYU head coach Carrie Roberts. "The girls are working hard and it is paying off."
Just a day after setting a career-low round with a 6-under 66, Kelsey Vines extended her individual lead with a 2-under 70 in round two. Vines, who carded three birdies and an eagle in the second round, sits in first place at eight under with a 4-stroke lead over the three competitors tied for second.
Senior Jade Bollinger moved up 12 spots from day one by shooting a second-round 70, putting her in a tie for ninth place with teammate and fellow senior Emily Copier, who posted a second-round 73.
Amanda Keith, who recorded a second-round 76, sits tied for 17th going into the final day of competition. Keith is joined in the top-25 by teammate Maggie Yuan, who is tied for 21st after a second-round, even-par 72 moved her up 18 positions from her first-round spot.
Freshman Annika Afoa is currently tied for 79th after posting a 11-over 83 in round two.
BYU looks to reclaim the lead in the final round of play, which begins tomorrow with the first Cougar teeing off at 8:50 am PT.
"Everyone needs to go out tomorrow and believe in themselves," Roberts said. "Everyone is playing well and we need to keep it up."
