No. 45 women's golf tied for eighth after day one of SMU Trinity Forest Invitational

DALLAS — No. 45 BYU women’s golf is tied for eighth place after two rounds of the SMU Trinity Forest Invitational on Monday at Trinity Forest Golf Club.

"It is a very tough course and I feel like we made some needed adjustments in the second round," BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. "It's going to be tough tomorrow, so we need to stay patient and put ourselves in good positions to score."

The Cougars fired 306-303 to shoot +33 through two rounds of action. No. 27 Houston sits atop the leaderboard at +10.

Rose Huang led the Cougars and is tied for 13th place after day one. Huang carded 74 in the morning, followed by an afternoon 75 to shoot 5-over on Monday.

Kendra Dalton and Aiko Leong are tied for 31st place at +8. Dalton carded 75-77, while Leong fired a pair of 76s.

Anna Kennedy shot a first-round 81 and bounced back with a second-round 76. Kennedy began the day with hole-in-one on the par-3 third hole. Kennedy is tied for 50th place.

Freshman Naomi Soifua fired 82-76 to shoot +14 and is tied for 52nd.

The Cougars will play the third and final round of the SMU Trinity Forest Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Play will begin at 8:30 a.m. CDT in a shotgun start. Links to live stats are provided on the BYU women's golf schedule page.
