COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – BYU sophomore middle blocker Heather Gneiting is one of 20 players selected to the U.S. Women’s Junior National Training Team (WJNTT), USA Volleyball announced Wednesday.

The WJNTT will hold a training camp July 6-12 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. After the camp, the roster will be whittled to 12 players to form the U.S. Women’s Junior National Team (WJNT) that will participate in the 2019 FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship in Léon Guanajuato & Aguascalientes, Mexico, July 12-21.

Gneiting, the 2018 AVCA National Freshman of the Year, is currently completing her time as a member of the U.S. Collegiate National Team that has been competing in Japan over the last two weeks. The Pleasant Grove, Utah, native was a national, regional and conference freshman of the year and was named a third-team All-American last year.

"Heather has represented the U.S. well in Japan with the Collegiate National Team the past two weeks," BYU head coach Heather Olmstead said. "This training will be another great experience for her to learn and grow through excellent coaching and competition."

Jerritt Elliott, the head coach of the University of Texas, will serve as the WJNT head coach. He will be assisted by Paula Weishoff, head coach at Concordia University Irvine, and Jenny Hazelwood with Infinity Volleyball Club. Jon Wong, assistant coach with Bradley University, will serve as the technical coordinator.

The WJNTT has six outside hitters, five middles, three opposites, three setters and three liberos:

  • Opposites (3): Skylar Fields (Missouri City, Texas), Kendall Kipp (Newport Beach, Calif.), Azhani Tealer (Grand Prairie, Texas)
