SAN DIEGO – No. 25 BYU baseball ended a streak of 11-straight games on the road with a 10-5 loss at San Diego State on Monday.

BYU (31-13) got on the board first with Brian Hsu reaching on a hit by pitch and eventually scoring via a double by Jackson Cluff.

San Diego State (30-19) countered with three singles to load the bases before scoring on two wild pitches and a groundout to take a 3-1 lead.

BYU drew three consecutive walks to start the second, but a double play helped SDSU get out of the inning with just one run scored by the Cougars.

A three-run home run by the Aztecs in the second brought the score to 6-2 after three. Another run in the fourth made it 7-2.

Freshman catcher Colton Easton hit a single to right center to score Mitch McIntyre to give Easton his first hit and RBI as a Cougar in the eighth to make it 7-3. The Cougars had two on with one out in the inning after the hit, but couldn’t put together a rally; for the game BYU left 12 total runners on base, scoring five runs on 10 hits.

Down 10-2 in the ninth, BYU scored one run when Jaren Hall came in off a wild pitch and another after Keaton Kringlen hit a sacrifice fly to score Cluff before recording the final out.

BYU gets back into WCC action and returns home to Miller Field with a three-game series against San Francisco starting Thursday, May 9, at 6 p.m. MT. The game will air on BYUtv Digital, BYU Radio and ESPN 960 AM.
