CHULA VISTA, Calif. — The BYU men’s golf team shot a third-round 285 (-3) Tuesday to finish the Lamkin San Diego Classic in eighth place.

“It wasn’t quite the tournament we were looking for,” BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. “We struggled with the Bermuda grass from the fairways and were not able to consistently get the ball close enough to the hole. Peter (Kuest) played another solid week and Carson (Lundell) played two great rounds, including a solid 67 to lead the team today.”

Kuest led the team with a third-round 71 (-1) and a final score of 213 (-3) to finish the tournament tied for fifth. The result marked Kuest’s seventh top-10 finish of the season. The senior tallied 11 birdies at the two-day event and carded an eagle in the third round on hole 17.

Lundell posted a team-best five birdies Tuesday and no bogeys to finish with a third-round 67 (-5) and a total score of 215 (-1). Lundell finished tied for 14th for his third top-15 finish of the season. Rhett Rasmussen followed, finishing four strokes behind Lundell after shooting a third-round 75 (+3) to tie for 34th place.
