SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — No. 22 BYU women's soccer will face in-state rival Utah this week on Thursday, Sept. 9 at Ute Field.
Thursday’s matchup is scheduled for 6 p.m. MDT on the Pac-12 Networks. The game will also be carried live on the BYU Sports Network — BYU Radio 107.9 FM/BYU Cougars App.
IN THE RANKINGS. BYU is ranked No. 22 in the NCAA DI women's soccer poll. Additionally, BYU is ranked No. 20 in the Top Drawer Soccer college soccer national ranking.
LAST TIME ON THE FIELD. On Thursday, the Cougars dominated the Golden Eagles of Marquette University in a 7-0 victory. BYU showcased its depth with seven different players each netting a goal (Olivia Wade, Bella Folino, Mikayla Colohan, Cameron Tucker, Brecken Mozingo, Caroline Stringfellow and Addie Gardner). Freshmen Stringfellow and Gardner picked up the first collegiate goals of their careers. Also, Tucker had her first start and first goal of the 2021 season.

THE UTES. Utah is 3-3-0 on the season, following two road games last week. On Thursday, Utah defeated Illinois State 1-0, thanks to a goal in the 20th minute by Taliana Kaufusi, cousin of BYU Football players Jackson, Isaiah, Bronson and Corbin Kaufusi. On Sunday, the Utes fell to the Bulldogs of Butler University 2-1. The Utes finished the 2020-21 season with a 4-9-3 record, and weren't able to reach the NCAA Tournament. Their best overall NCAA Tournament finish was a trip to the Sweet 16 back in 2016.
COUGARS VS. UTES. The Cougars and Utes have met more than 30 times (BYU is 25-8-2). Last season, the Cougars defeated the Utes 5-1 in Herriman, Utah, led by a hat trick from Tucker. In the last five years, BYU has won all but one match, which was a tie in 2017.
