BOCA RATON, Fla. — Allysha Mae Mateo sits in a tie for fifth after the opening day of the FAU Paradise Invitational at Osprey Point Golf Club, while the BYU women's team is tied for seventh.

Mateo's opening round 65 matched her best 18-hole score of the year as she went bogey-free in the opening round. The senior carded three birdies and the first hole-in-one of her collegiate career en route to a 5-under start.

"Our girls played solid in round one and Allysha shooting 67 was really big for our team," said BYU head coach Carrie Roberts. "Going bogey-free, making three birdies and a hole-in-one is really impressive and is a good start to her spring season."

The Honolulu, Hawaii native carded an even-par 72 in the second round to sit in a tie for fifth at 159 entering the final 18 holes tomorrow.

In her first appearance of the 2022-23 season, Alexa Udom posted rounds of 72-74—146 and is 2-over-par through 36 holes. The sophomore recorded five birdies in the first two rounds to sit in 19th place entering the final round.

Adeline Anderson shot 72-76—148 and is tied for 42nd while Lila Galeai carded rounds of 74-77—151. Annick Haczkiewicz rounded out the scoring for the Cougars by shooting 81-75—156.

"The wind picked up in the afternoon and unfortunately, we didn’t adjust well," said Roberts. "If we can refocus and get locked in, we can play well and do something fun tomorrow."

BYU will tee off in the final round at 8 a.m. ET. with Kennesaw State and UTSA. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
