Set 1
Fueled by two McComber aces and kills from five different Cougars, including two Whitney Bower dumps, BYU led 13-7 in the early going, forcing a TCU timeout. Two kills by Livingston and Whitney Bower’s third dump kill of the set had BYU in front 18-10, and the Horned Frogs called their second timeout.
The Cougars responded to a 3-0 TCU run with three-straight of their own, but after two-consecutive Horned Frog aces, BYU took a timeout leading 23-20. An Eden Bower kill got the Cougars set point, and BYU capitalized two plays later on a TCU service error, 25-23.
Set 2
The second set saw 14 ties and two lead changes, with the Cougars trailing by as many as three and taking a timeout down 11-8. Rallying to take a 14-13 lead on an ace by Livingston, the two teams began trading points.
Tied at 19, a quick hitter for Lee and a Whitney Bower service ace put BYU in front 21-19, forcing a Horned Frog timeout. Going back-and-forth again, the Cougars closed the set on a 3-0 run, with a Hiapo ace earning the 25-22 set win.
Set 3
Trailing 6-2 in the final frame, BYU took its first timeout. Coming out of it, the Cougars went on a 5-0 run that featured their first three blocks of the match to lead 7-6 and force a TCU timeout. The Horned Frogs retook the lead with a 3-0 run before the teams began trading points again.
Down 14-13, a 4-0 Cougar run, including a 5-1 span highlighted by three kills from Lee, put BYU back in front, 17-14, and TCU took its second timeout. A Hannah Billeter ace capped off a 3-0 run that then had the Cougars in front 22-17.
Livingston went cross court for a kill, earning BYU match point, and closed it out on the next play with an overpass point, sealing with sweep with a 25-20 third set Cougar win.
