2024 BYU Gymnastics Schedule Released

BYU gymnastics released the 2024 schedule for its inaugural season in the Big 12.

PROVO, Utah — BYU gymnastics released the 2024 schedule for its inaugural season in the Big 12.

"We have so much talent coming to BYU next year," said head coach Guard Young. "These are nationally ranked gymnasts coming in and they will make an impact right away. It's a great day to be a Coug!"

BYU finished the 2023 season ranked No. 33 in the nation and earned two Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference awards in its final season with the conference. Senior beam queen Elease Rollins earned MRGC Beam Specialist of the Year and freshman powerhouse Kylie Eaquinto earned MRGC Freshman of the Year honors. 

The 2023 team finished the season with a 195.802 average.

"Our team is so excited for our first year in the Big 12," said associate head coach Natalie Broekman. "We know we will be competitive with other Big 12 gymnastics teams and are working hard to be ready for competition to begin in January."

With four seniors taking advantage of their Covid year and returning for the 2024 season, the Cougars will have a mix of veteran talent and seven new freshmen taking on new roles and challenges on the four competing events. 

During the 2024 season, the Cougars are scheduled to participate in 12 meets leading up to the Big 12 Championships in Norman, Okla. on Saturday, March 23.

The schedule starts with BYU’s second trip to the Super16 gymnastics meet in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, Jan. 6. The Cougars took home fourth place in last year's Vegas meet, with a score of 193.775.

Following their trip to Vegas, the Cougars will compete in an ESPN Invite meet at the Maverik Center on Saturday, Jan. 13. BYU will take on Cal, Michigan State and NC State in the meet.

BYU will then return to the Maverik Center on Monday, Jan. 15 for the fifth annual Rio Tinto Best of Utah Gymnastics Meet against Utah, Utah State and Southern Utah.

The Cougars will then travel to Iowa State for their first night of Big 12 competition on Friday, Jan. 19 before hosting their first home meet of the season on Friday, Feb. 2 against West Virginia.

BYU will head to Oklahoma (Feb. 9) and Kentucky (Feb. 16) before hosting two meets in the Marriott Center against Denver (Feb. 23) and previous conference foe, SUU (Mar. 1). After hosting SUU, the Cougars will then head to Cedar City to face the Thunderbirds again on Monday, Mar. 4.

The final home meet of the season will be against Ohio State on Friday, Mar. 8 before the Cougars travel to Washington on Friday, Mar. 15 for the final meet of the regular season.
