PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s golf head coach Bruce Brockbank announced the signing of Kevin Wu and Lincoln Markham, as well as the return of Jackson Mauss.

Kevin Wu

Wu will come to Brigham Young University after graduating from Montverde Academy, Shanghai Campus. The incoming freshman hails from Jiangxi Province, China, and will study business.

"Kevin Wu is a very seasoned player for an incoming freshman,” said BYU Director of Golf Todd Miller. "He has traveled all over the world, competing in top events. You can tell that he has dedicated an incredible amount of time to working on the fundamentals of the golf swing. His move is effortless and powerful."

Just this year, Wu won the Student-Athlete Games in China with rounds of 69-67-67, as well as the Starting Point Tour in Beijing with rounds of 69-68-69. Last year, Wu won the AJGA at Ruby Hill in a playoff at five-under-par.

Lincoln Markham

Markham is from St. George, Utah, and will graduate from Crimson Cliffs High School in May. He will defer his admission to BYU to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and will return to the squad in 2026.

"We are excited to sign Lincoln Markham,” said Miller. "He has been improving his scoring average by two shots every year, and he had some great finishes this summer. His final round 70 at IMG Junior World was the second-lowest round in a field of over 200 of the top golfers in the world. He also shot a 64 on the final day of the FCG Callaway World Junior to finish 4th overall.”

Markham was a member of the 2022 Eddie Hogan Cup and was the leading scorer for Team Utah. This year, Markham has played on Team Utah for the Junior America’s Cup and secured the title at the UGA Green Springs amateur.

Jackson Mauss

Mauss signed with BYU golf in 2021 but deferred his enrollment to serve a mission.

"We are also pleased to have Jackson Mauss returning from serving in the Cote d’Ivoire Abidjan East mission,” said Miller. "He played some great golf before leaving, and we anticipate that he will be back to form for the fall of 2024.”

The product of Corner Canyon High School is a two-time 6A all-state honoree, a member of the 2021 Utah Eddie Hogan Cup team, and the highest-ranked Utah junior golfer in the class of 2022.
