MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Two more school records fell as BYU men’s swim and dive finished third at its inaugural Big 12 Swim and Dive Championships at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park on Saturday.

“All of our athletes were troopers through the adversity we faced this week,” said BYU head swimming coach Shari Skabelund. “We will build on everything we learned about this meet for next year. As a coaching staff, we are really proud of our team’s ability to rally and support each other.”

The Cougars scored 1,402 points to take third over Cincinnati and West Virginia in the team scoring. Jordan Tiffany and Brad Prolo led BYU with 87 and 81 points, respectively. Diego Camacho Salgado’s 61 points and 60 from Payton Plumb further fueled the Cougars’ success.

BYU wrapped up the week with two Big 12 Champions, nine all-conference first teamers and 13 second teamers.

Fifty-six more points went the Cougars way as Tiffany, Diego Camacho Salgado, Joshua Reed and Luigi Riva combined to clock a school-record 2:51.35, and take second in the 400 free relay.

For the second time in as many days, Prolo struck down a school record. With a 1:54.36 in the 200 breast, Prolo took fourth and overtook teammate Emerson Edwards’ previous record. Edwards followed Prolo in fifth at 1:55.13.

The men’s 100 free saw Jordan Tiffany finish runner-up at 42.29. Tiffany secured another first team all-league spot after winning the preliminary race over Nate Germonprez of Texas, then beating the Longhorns’ Camden Taylor and Coby Carrozza in the final.

Luigi Riva and Payton Plumb joined Tiffany in the final and finished seventh and eighth, respectively to take All-Big 12 Second Team status.

Chase Hindmarsh delivered BYU its third first team diving honor with a fourth-place finish at 371.75 on platform.
