TULSA, Oklahoma – Former BYU women's golfer Lila Galeai is set to tee off at the U.S. Women's Amatuer on Monday at Southern Hills Country Club.
The 124th edition of the U.S. Women’s Am is taking place August 5-11 as Galeai is one of the 155 players competing for the coveted Robert Cox trophy.
“The preparation for this tournament consisted of yardage numbers with wedges and working on curving the ball in different ways,” Galeai said. “Mentally preparing for this tournament has been important, too. I take it one shot at a time and work through mistakes by quickly finding a solution.”
The pool of 155 will compete in two days of qualifying stroke play with the top 64 advancing to match play that is scheduled to begin on Wednesday.
“I’ve never qualified for the US Women’s Am before, so being able to make it here in Tulsa and have a chance to play with some of the best golfers in the world is so exciting to me," Galeai added. "I’m excited to work on making my game even better.”
Match play will be streamed on Golf Channel and Peacock Wednesday through Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. MST.
