PROVO, Utah — BYU has finalized its 2025 nonconference football schedule with the addition of a home game with Portland State on Aug. 30, and the rescheduling of a game with Stanford that will move from 2031 to Sept. 6, 2025. The Cougars will also visit East Carolina on Sept. 20 in the final game of a four-game series.
In addition, BYU is scheduled to play nine Big 12 opponents, including TCU, UCF, Utah, and West Virginia in Provo, along with Arizona, Cincinnati, Colorado, Iowa State, and Texas Tech on the road.
A nonconference game with Southern Utah, originally scheduled for September 2025, has been moved to 2031.
BYU and Portland State have met just once previously in football with the Cougars defeating the Vikings 20-6 in Provo on Aug. 26, 2017. Led by current NFL star Fred Warner, BYU held PSU to just 220 yards total offense and one touchdown in the game.
Stanford and BYU last met in the final regular-season game of the 2022 season with the Cougars coming away with a 35-26 win on the road. The two universities have met just three times in football with the Cardinal winning the first two contests in 2003 and 2004.
BYU has also faced East Carolina just three times. The Cougars took the first game in 2015 with a 45-38 win in Provo, while ECU won the last two meetings in 2017 and 2022.
