PROVO, Utah – The BYU women’s soccer team heads to Texas to face the TCU Horned Frogs on Thursday evening at the Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.

LAST TIME ON THE FIELD. The Cougars opened Big 12 conference play against Big 12 newcomer Arizona State on Thursday, Sept. 12. BYU took home the 1-0 shutout victory in the matchup with the Sun Devils.

THE COUGARS. BYU (3-3-2, 1-0 Big 12) faced the Sun Devils last Thursday on South Field, notching its third shutout victory of the season, 1-0. The Cougars had a season-high 22 shots, nine of which were on frame. The Cougs also tallied 12 corner kicks during the match. BYU sophomore center back Avery Frischknecht scored her first collegiate goal as the lone goal of the match, making it the second game in a row with a center back scoring. After her goal and helping BYU maintain the shutout, Frischknecht earned her first Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors.
THE HORNED FROGS. TCU (5-2-1, 0-0-1 Big 12) opened its Big 12 play with an in-state battle against Texas Tech, ending in a 0-0 draw. The Horned Frogs last played Cal Poly on Sunday, Sept. 15, taking home the 5-1 win. Five different Horned Frogs tallied a goal in the victory, with the first goal coming in the 10th minute. TCU had 33 shots in the game, its most since 2022, and 15 shots on goal, its most since 2010.
COUGARS VS. HORNED FROGS. The Cougars and Horned Frogs have played 11 times previously, with BYU leading the overall record 9-1-1. The first tie between the two teams came in last year’s first Big 12 game at BYU. With a national broadcast on ESPNU, the Horned Frogs and Cougars tied 3-3 on South Field. BYU outshot TCU 24-7 in that matchup, with goals by Rachel McCarthy, Allie Fryer and Erin Bailey.
