Oblad, Roskelley, Tidwell Allphin secure wins on day two of Bob Pollock Invitational

Sami Oblad set a new personal-best time of 2:09.34 in the 800-meters, Jaden Roskelley scored 5,066 points in the heptathlon and Cierra Tidwell Allphin cleared 1.80m/5-10.75 to win their respective events on day two of Bob Pollock Invitational.

CLEMSON, S.C. - Sami Oblad set a new personal-best time of 2:09.34 in the 800-meters, Jaden Roskelley scored 5,066 points in the heptathlon and Cierra Tidwell Allphin cleared 1.80m/5-10.75 to win their respective events on day two of Bob Pollock Invitational.

Women's Recap

Oblad, a junior from Stansbury Park, Utah won the open section of the women's 800-meters, clocking a personal-best time of 2:09.34. At the BYU Cougar Invitational two weeks ago, Oblad set a personal best in the 200m with a 24.67 time. 

Cierra Tidwell Allphin returned from her personal best in the long jump yesterday (5.81m/19-0.75) to win the women's high jump, clearing 1.80m/5-10.75. Tidwell Allphin's win marks the 32nd of her career in the event.

Jaslyn Gardner led the Cougars in the women's 200m, crossing the line at 24.40. Dolita Shaw was next to cross for BYU after clocking 24.64. Freshman Paje Rasmussen earned a new personal best in the event, finishing at 24.69.

The women's 4x400m relay team of Oblad, Kathryn Bingham, Annalise Hart and Lainey Jones placed third with a time of 3:40.56. 

Men's Recap

Jaden Roskelley won the heptathlon with a personal-best score of 5,066. The freshman from Arlington, Washington led the competition from start to finish. On day two, he won the 60-meter hurdles after running 8.54. He also set a new personal best in the pole vault, clearing 3.50m/11-5.75. Aaron Wood finished second overall in the event with 4,902 points, highlighted by a personal best in the 1000m at 2:52.53.

In the field events, Jake Grimsman placed third in the men's high jump with a clearance of 2.10/6-10.75. Thrower Danny Bryant earned a fifth place finish in the men's shot put with a toss of 18.12m/59-5.5

Dallin Draper ran 21.34 to earn a third-place finish in the men's 200m. Abram Schaap earned another personal-best time on the weekend running 21.50 to place 15th. 

The men's 4x400m relay team of Eli Hazlett, Schapp, Josh Taylor and Jace Jensen placed second with a time of 3:06.86. 

Next up, the distance squad will travel to Washington for the Husky Classic while the sprints, jumps and thows goups will travel to New Mexico for the Don Kirby Elite Invitational. Both meets will take place Feb. 9-10.
