PROVO, Utah - No. 1 BYU women's cross country heads to Waco, Texas for the Big 12 cross country championships hosted by Baylor Friday morning at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course. 

The BYU women are coming off of a win at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals. The Cougars scored 105 points to beat Washington's 157 points and NAU's 165 points.

Following the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals, the women are currently listed as No. 1 on the USTFCCCA Women's Division I Cross Country Coaches' poll that was released Oct. 22. BYU was previously ranked No. 6 on Aug. 27, No. 7 on Sept. 17, No. 5 on Oct. 1 and No. 2 on Oct. 8. 

The Cougars return seven runners from last season's Big 12 championship team. Lexy Halladay-Lowry led BYU to place fourth at the championships. Jenna Hutchins, Carmen Alder and Riley Chamberlain all placed in the top 10 finishing in sixth, seventh and 10th. All four women will be racing on Friday. 

The top-15 runners on Friday will be named All-Big 12.
