PROVO, Utah — No. 1 BYU women's cross country is set to race at the NCAA Mountain Regional in Reno, Nevada Friday afternoon.
BYU is coming off of its second-straight Big 12 championship. The team scored 41 points to beat No. 5 West Virginia's 60 points as Lexy Halladay-Lowry, Riley Chamberlain, Taylor Rohatinsky, Carmen Alder and Destiny Everett were awarded with All-Big 12 honors.
In order to qualify for the NCAA National Championships in Madison, Wisconsin on Nov. 23, the team must place in the top two at the regional round. If they do not place in the top two, the NCAA DI Cross Country Subcommittee will then choose 13 teams at-large to round out the 31 team field at the championships.
The BYU women have qualified for the past nine NCAA championships.
Ranked teams competing in the 6000-meter race include No. 1 BYU, No. 4 Northern Arizona, No. 9 Utah, No. 10 New Mexico and No. 30 Utah Valley.
