JUST WIN, BABY
BYU improved to 2-0 under first-year head coach Kevin Young with an 86-80 victory over UC Riverside on Friday evening in front of 17,381 fans at the Marriott Center.

The Cougars, who led by as many as 17 in the second half, shot 53.2 percent from the field, 27.3 percent from three and 53.8 percent from the free throw line as they improvd to 2-0 all-time against the Highlanders.

FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE
Egor Demin became the first Cougar to pick up a Big 12 weekly award as the freshman was named the league's Newcomer of the Week on Monday, sharing the honor with Kansas's Zeke Mayo.

Demin, a 6-foot-9 guard, is the only freshmen and one of eight players in NCAA Division I men's basketball to be averaging 15.0 points and 8.0 assists per game (min. two games played). He has led the Cougars in scoring in wins over Central Arkansas and UC Riverside, including a 20-point performance in the win over Highlanders, making him one of six freshmen to score 20 or more points since the start of the 2016-17 season.

FOUSS ON THE LOOSE
Nine of Fousseyni Traore's 12 rebounds this season have been on the offensive glass as the Cougars are outscoring opponents 40-9 in second chance points. The senior had five offensive boards on Friday, giving him 245 for his career and moving him into a tie for fifth on the BYU all-time list with Russell Larson (1991-95). With five offensive rebounds on Wednesday, he would moved past Brandon Davies (2009-13) and became the fourth Cougar with 250 or more offensive rebounds.

WAKE ME UP WHEN NOVEMBER ENDS
The Cougars have won 20 straight home games in November, a streak that dates back to November 2019. They have also won 10 straight in the 11th month of the year, including victories over Arizona State and NC State en route to winning the Vegas Showdown last season.

ROYAL VS. ROYALS
Grant Leonard is in his third season as the head coach at Queens after spending the previous six seasons as an associate head coach. During his time in Charlotte, he has gone 34-34 including a 18-win season in 2022-23.

JUCO transfer Asjon Anderson has been the leading scorer for the Royals for their first two games averaging 16.0 points per game. He scored a season-high 24 points in a win over Western Carolina.

THAT'S ELEVATION, HOLMES
Queens will be the second school to play Utah and BYU on back-to-back nights since the beginning of the 1998-99 season. Coppin State was the first school to do it during the 2016-17 season, when the Eagles were outscored by a combined score of 190-110.

THE KING OF QUEENS
Wednesday's game is more than just the first all-time meeting the two programs as former Director of Basketball Operations Bobby Horodyski returns to Provo for the first time since he left to be an assisant coach for the Royals in the summer of 2023.

LOOKING AHEAD
BYU continues its home stand on Saturday, Nov. 16, when the Cougars host Idaho at the Marriott Center for the first time since Dec. 15, 2001. Tip is scheduled for 1 p.m. MT.
