Head coach Guard Young has announced the signing of Scarlett Sonnenberg, Zoe Hale, Emilie Chandler and Audrey Thomas.

PROVO, Utah – BYU gymnastics head coach Guard Young announced the signing of four gymnasts this week. The signing period opened on Nov. 13 and closes on Aug. 1, 2025.

“We are really excited about this recruiting class,” said head coach Guard Young. “This is a top-15 class in the country and one of our strongest as a coaching staff. The future is bright and we are excited to have these girls on campus.”

These four new girls will join a BYU squad that finished the 2024 season ranked No. 25 in the nation with a 196.665 National Qualifying Score (NQS). BYU reached the top-25 rankings twice during the season, coming in at No. 19 and No. 24. 

The states of Missouri, Washington and Utah are represented in the 2025 class of signees. These four girls will compete for BYU during the 2026 gymnastics season.  

Scarlett Sonnenberg | All Around

The 5-foot-2.5 Springville, Utah, native attends Springville High School and trains at Bold Dynamics. She was also recruited by NC State, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon State , Minnesota, University of Arizona, San Jose State, Cal Berkeley, Denver, Boise State, Penn and Michigan State.

  • 2023 national beam champion and 2nd place bars and all around
  • 2023 dp national team member
  • 2024 all around state champion and beam state champion

  • Most consistent gymnast for 2023 and 2024

Zoe Hale | All Around

The 5-foot-4 Draper, Utah, native attends Corner Canyon High School and competes for Olympus Gymnastics. She was also recruited by Arizona State and Utah State.

Notable Accomplishments:

  • 2x National Qualifier -2023 and 2024
  • 2023 Nationals - 4th place Vault
  • 2024 Regionals- 3rd Place Floor, 4th on Vault 5th on Bars
  • AA Personal Best: 38.375 (2024)
  • Honors Student 4.0 gpa

Emilie Chandler | All Around

The 4-foot-11 Lee’s Summit, Missouri, native attends Blue Springs South High School and competes for GAGE Gymnastics. She was also recruited by Rutgers, Nebraska, Illinois and NC State.
