Hasler announces the signing of Sue Yan Tan

PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s tennis head coach Holly Hasler announced Wednesday the signing of Sue Yan Tan. Tan, a Singapore native, will join the program this fall.

“We are thrilled to have Sue Yan joining our team this fall," said head coach Holly Hasler. "Her style of play and passion for the game will add so much to the talent we already have. The diverse cultures we have within our team are very special, so adding a player from Singapore will make it even more fun. “

Tan arrives in Provo with a wealth of experience expected to energize the Cougars. She is the 2021 ITF Singapore Grade 4 singles champion and the 2022 ITF Singapore J30 singles champion. Representing her country, Tan was the No. 1 player for five consecutive years and competed in the World Juniors in 2019 and 2020, the Junior Billie Jean King Cup in 2021 and 2022, and the Women’s Billie Jean King Cup in 2022 and 2023.

The new signee has achieved an ITF Junior Ranking as high as No. 198 and currently ranks as the No. 231 junior player in the world. Tan also boasts sponsorships from Asics and Babolat.
