SALT LAKE CITY — BYU men’s and women’s dive took first and second, respectively, as the weekend’s competition wound to a close at the Utah Dive Invite on Saturday.

Men’s Recap
BYU won the men’s competition with 123 points behind season-best showings from Chase Hindmarsh and Marti Llop.

Hindmarsh finished second in both the 1-meter preliminary and final and advanced out of the opening round with a score of 310.65. The senior from Tomball, Texas scored a personal-best 346.65 in the final, surpassing Duke’s Yannis Schattman for No. 17 nationally on 1-meter. Hindmarsh entered the meet ranked 47th with a 303.90 scored at November’s SMU Invite. Hindmarsh’s previous best 1-meter score of 343.40 coming nearly two years ago at the 2023 MPSF Championships.
Ezra Purcell and Llop followed Hindmarsh in the 1-meter final with respective placements of fifth and sixth.
Llop shined in the 3-meter competition with a third-place finish in both preliminary and final rounds. The freshman from Barcelona, Spain notched his top-3 spot in the final with a score of 328.75 after recording a personal-best 334.70 in the preliminary. Llop’s previous best of 308.40 came at SMU. With 334.70, Llop moves into the top-50 in 3-meter scoring nationally over McCoy Lyman of Dartmouth.
Hindmarsh and Purcell took fifth and sixth, respectively, to round out the Cougars’ scoring in the 3-meter final.
Women’s Recap
BYU women’s diving overtook Wisconsin and UCLA for a second-place finish at Ute Natatorium with three top-10 finishes credited to veterans Alexia Jackson Hansen and Brooklyn Larson Clouse.

Jackson Hansen scored 243 in the 3-meter preliminary and improved by nearly 50 points to 290.30 on her way to a third-place finish in the final. The junior from Mesa, Arizona checked off the 1-meter preliminary with a seventh-place 224.95 before improving again in the final, this time to 235.70 and sixth.
Larson Clouse tallied 220.55 points to take ninth in the 1-meter first round then finished seventh overall at 217.90 in the final.
Cougar dive next hits the road for Berkeley, California and the Cal Diving Invitational Jan. 16-18.
