IRVING, Texas — Delaney Gibb was named the Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week for the seventh time this season, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.

With her seventh weekly award this season, Gibb becomes the sixth player in Big 12 history to earn at least seven weekly freshman honors, joining Brittany Griner (Baylor; 7), Nina Davis (Baylor; 7), Joyner Holmes (Texas; 7), Darianna Littlepage-Buggs (Baylor; 8) and Ayoka Lee (K-State; 12).

BYU athletes have accounted for seven of the last eight Big 12 Freshman of the Week awards with Gibb receiving six and Kambree Barber getting the nod last week after her first career double-double against ASU.

Gibb led all Big 12 freshmen in points, assists, steals and blocked shots per game this week as BYU took down UCF and fell at Baylor. The Raymond, Albert native averaged 20 points, five assists, five rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 block in two games this week.

The freshman phenom scored a game-high 19 points against UCF, leading the Cougars in scoring for the 15th time in her young career. Gibb made six field goals and knocked down three triples in the win, her 12th game with three or more 3-pointers this season. She also led BYU with five assists while grabbing four rebounds and recording a block.

Against Baylor, Gibb went 6-for-14 from the field and 3-for-5 from downtown. The freshman again led BYU in scoring with 21 points to go along with five assists, six rebounds and four steals.

Gibb and the Cougars continue their Texas two-step on Wednesday, Feb. 11 as they take on the TCU Horned Frogs in Fort Worth. Tip is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT with the game streamed on ESPN+ and broadcast on BYU Radio with Jason Shepherd on the call.
