Hunter ran a lifetime-best of 2:00.21 in the 800-meters at the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Jan. 31. The senior from Provo, Utah won the event in a loaded field of professionals and collegians. Hunter's time is No. 1 in the NCAA, No. 1 in the Big 12 and No. 2 in the world this year.

The two-time First Team All-American half-miler broke BYU's all-time indoor school record in the event by over a second on her way to her fourth program record (distance medley relay, outdoor 4x400m, outdoor 4x800m).

Chamberlain earned a four-second personal best in the mile as she clocked 4:26.19 for third place at the John Thomas Terrier Classic Jan. 31. The junior from Loomis, California ranks No. 3 in the NCAA, No. 1 in the Big 12 and No. 15 in the world this year.

Chamberlain's time broke the previous BYU mile school record by over three seconds. A First Team All-American and national champion at the 2024 indoor track and field championships, Chamberlain also holds a Cougar school record in the distance medley relay.

Hunter and Chamberlain's honor is BYU Track and Field's second Big 12 Athlete of the Week award this season (Maren Garnett Jan. 15) and second since joining the conference in 2023.

“It was a great weekend for women’s distance with three of our school records falling," said Associate Director of Track & Field Diljeet Taylor. "Riley and Meghan did a great job in their races and I’m excited to continue to see their progression. I am very proud of how all my women represent our program and the Big 12 conference.”
