THE COUGARS. BYU last competed at the Marriott Center for the third week in a row on Friday, Jan. 31 against UC Davis and SUU. The Cougars placed second in the tri meet, scoring a 195.600, their second-highest score of the season. BYU faced SUU three times in January, falling to the Thunderbirds in all three competitions. BYU’s win over UC Davis was its first home win of the season. The Cougars hit the road for the first time since the Best of Utah meet on Monday, Jan. 20.
THE PIONEERS. No. 21 Denver last competed against Big 12 opponent Arizona, dropping its January finale 194.600-196.775. For the first time of her career, Bella Mabanta took first on vault with a 9.875. DU’s 49.275 on bars was its highest on the event since the season opener. Sophomore Madison Ulrich tied her career high on beam with a 9.875 in the final rotation of the night.
