BYU quickly plated four runs as it batted through the order in the first inning. The Cougars loaded the bases on walks from Lily Owens and Brittingham that sandwiched a Hailey Morrow single. Milkowski walked to bring in Owens and force a Houston pitching change.

After the switch in the circle, Aleia Agbayani drew another run-scoring walk before Maddie Udall-Woolley and Miranda Mansfield each singled, bringing home two more for the 4-0 lead.

Brittingham extended the BYU advantage in the second, hammering a homer to center field to make it 5-0.

The Cougars added another run in the fifth after a Bre Townsend single, Aleia Agbayani walk, Udall-Woolley fly out and Miranda Mansfield fielder’s choice, putting them ahead by six runs.

Brittingham and Milkowski hit back-to-back jacks in the sixth, to put BYU in front, 9-0. Brittingham’s second home run of the night was a two-run shot after Morrow was hit by a pitch.

After starter Kaysen Korth pitched five innings of two-hit shutout ball, Jada Villegas came on to toss the sixth, getting a strikeout and two groundouts to complete the Cougars’ run-rule win.
