OREM, Utah — Ilove'a Brittingham homered twice as BYU softball picked up a 14-0 victory over Utah Valley at Wolverine Softball Field on Tuesday night.

BOX SCORE

The Cougars (20-6, 4-2 Big 12) tallied three homers on the night, led by Brittingham's two and Jaelynn Lambert's first-career long bomb. BYU outhit UVU 11 to three in the contest, also benefitting from a trio of Wolverine errors.

Player Highlights

BYU took control of the scoreboard early with two Cougars reaching home in the top of the first. Lilly Owens got things started with a leadoff single up the middle. After a Hailey Morrow walk, two fielder’s choices and a Utah Valley error led to BYU tallying two runs.

The Cougars had a quick three outs to end the first with two strikeouts from Kate Dahle.

BYU tacked on another three runs in the top of the second. Owens continued her momentum from the first with an RBI double off the center field wall. Brittingham followed with an RBI single moments later. Milkowski was able to bring in the final run of the top half of the frame with an RBI double to right field to push the BYU lead to 5-0.

The Cougars tacked on another run in the top of the third on two hits. Keila Kamoku started the BYU's third inning with a double to right field. Miranda Mansfield single through the left side to bring home her teammate for an RBI single.

Dahle got BYU out of a jam in the bottom of the fourth inning with two Wolverines on base. Three-consecutive outs with a strikeout in the mix kept Utah Valley scoreless through three innings.

Brittingham led off the fifth with a home run down the left field line to notch the Cougars’ seventh run. Maddie Udall-Woolley later notched an RBI double, coming home to score on Lambert homer past the center field wall, making it 10-0.

Batting around the order and with the bases loaded, Brittingham hammered the first pitch she saw for a grand slam, the freshman's second homer of the night and third multi-home run game this season, for a 14-0 advantage.

BYU retired the UVU side in the fifth, which it did in three of the five innings in the contest, to close out the midweek win via the run rule.
