PROVO, Utah — BYU softball dropped the second of three games against No. 11/9 Arizona, 15-6 at Gail Miller Field on Friday night.

The Cougars (20-8, 4-4 Big 12) scored six total runs in their second series game against the Wildcats, but the Arizona sealed the game in the seventh inning with five runs of their 15 total.

Player Highlights

The Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but an Aleia Agbayani run tied the game in the second off a single from pinch hitter Maddie Udall-Woolley.

A third-inning homer contributed to another three runs for Arizona. 

Lily Owens took first base in the third inning with a full-count walk. Aided by singles from Hailey Morrow and Lindy Millkowski, Owens picked up her first run of the game, narrowing the Wildcats’ lead to 4-2.

After Arizona tacked on four more runs in the top of the fourth, BYU came back with three runs. Owens tallied an RBI after being hit by a pitch, scoring Keila Kamoku with the bases loaded. Morrow singled to second base and allowed Jaelynn Lambert to score a run. Ilove’a Brittingham singled to center and tallied an RBI with a run from Miranda Mansfield.

The Wildcats tallied two more runs in the next two innings off a single and a triple, putting them up 10-5. 

Morrow led off the sixth with a solo home run to left field, making it 10-6.

In the final inning, Arizona posted another five runs off two singles and a triple, lengthening the team’s lead to 15-6.

The Cougars were unable to score in the seventh, securing the Wildcats’ 15-6 win.
