PROVO, Utah — Despite three solo home runs, BYU softball came up short in a 4-3 game two loss to UCF at Gail Miller Field on Friday night.

The Cougars (24-12, 7-7 Big 12) scored on home runs from Hailey Morrow, Lindy Milkowski and Maddy Udall-Woolley and but the Knights tallied two runs in the first, one in the fourth and one in the sixth to take the series victory.

Player Highlights

The Knights came atop the scoreboard first with two runs in the top of the first, earned on a BYU fielding error. 

UCF brought in a third run in the top of the fourth inning with a home run over the left field wall. 

The Cougars earned their first run in the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo home run by Morrow over the right center field wall. It marked the junior’s ninth home run of the season. 

The Knights brought in a fourth run home in the top of the sixth on an RBI single.  

The bottom of the sixth featured Milkowski, who homered over the center field wall to cut the deficit in half at 4-2. 

Udall-Woolley notched her second home run of the season in the bottom of the seventh, a solo shot that brought the game within a run. Despite the late game momentum, the tying run aboard and with the winning run at the plate, the Knights took the contest, 4-3.
