PROVO, Utah — A sixth inning home run by Lindy Milkowski fueled BYU softball to a 2-1 win over No. 11 Texas Tech at Gail Miller Field on Friday evening.

Despite not finding home plate in the first four innings, BYU (31-15, 13-10 Big 12) defeated the Red Raiders off a two-run shot courtesy of Milkowski in the sixth inning to even the three-game series at 1-1.

Player Highlights

After four scoreless innings, Texas Tech took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth on a double to left field that drove in a runner from third. The Cougars were unable to answer in the bottom half, sending the Red Raiders into the sixth inning with the lead.

In the sixth, Ilove’a Brittingham singled to left and advanced to second on a Texas Tech fielding error. Milkowski followed with a home run to center, driving in two runs to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead heading into the final inning.

Relief pitcher Jada Villegas and the Cougars held the Red Raiders hitless in the seventh to seal the 2-1 victory and even the series at one game apiece.
