SAN DIEGO, Calif. — This past weekend, the BYU men’s tennis team competed in the SoCal Intercollegiate Tournament in San Diego.
The highlight of the event came on Thursday when TJ Wells and Hardy Owen topped No. 2 seed Santa Clara, 6-2, to advance to the quarterfinals.
In singles, Adam Chodur and Alex Edmonston each picked up multiple extra-match wins, bouncing back against opponents from Utah State, UC Santa Barbara and Northwestern.
While no Cougars made it past the quarterfinals in singles or doubles, head coach Zack Warren said it was a valuable weekend for growth.
"It was a really valuable weekend of competition in San Diego," Warren said. "We had three days of matches and the guys did a great job of making adjustments each day, playing their best tennis on Saturday, the final day. This was great preparation for the ITA Regionals, beginning on Wednesday in Las Vegas."

Up Next: BYU will be back this week at the ITA Regional Championships in Las Vegas, running from Wednesday, Oct. 15, to Monday, Oct. 20.
The ITA Division I Regional Championships serve as a key qualifier for the 2025 NCAA Individual Championships. Over the next two weeks, 13 regional tournaments will take place across the country, with top finishers earning spots in the national championships in Orlando.
