IRVING, Texas — BYU women’s soccer forward Ellie Walbruch and freshman Mia Goettsche earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week awards, the conference announced Wednesday morning.
Walbruch’s conference nod marks BYU’s first Offensive Player of the Week award this season. She was also named to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Women’s Team of the Week.
She notched her first career hat trick, BYU’s first since 2021, in the 3-2 win against Arizona last Thursday. She then added a goal against No. 21 Colorado to help the Cougars tie the Buffs 2-2 Monday evening.
The Highland, Utah native leads her team in goals (10) and shots (60) this season. She also sits atop the Big 12 conference in shots (60) and shots per game (4), and ranks third in shots on goal (26). She has scored in four consecutive games, notching six goals in four Big 12 matches.
Goettsche's Big 12 award is her second of the season, with her first coming back in week four. She is tied with Mia Lopez for the second-most goals at BYU this season, with four, on 15 total shots. She scored her fourth against Colorado, the equalizer in a tough Big 12 battle. Goettsche also has three assists on the year.
