PROVO, Utah — No. 23 BYU women's volleyball hits the road for a match at Utah on Friday night.
The Cougars (18-7, 6-7 Big 12) have their second of two single-game weeks in conference play this week, having last played at No. 8 Arizona State on Friday night.

BYU went 0-2 in league matches last week, falling in four at both Arizona and Arizona State. The Cougars had previously split their Big 12 slate five times and in three weekends in a row.
Suli Davis (40 kills), Claire Little Chambers (23 kills), Sophia Callahan (23 kills) and Brielle Kemavor (14 kills) each finished in double figures, but Callahan's .315 hitting percentage was a team high on the week.
Alex Bower dished out 85 assists, averaging 10.63 per set, while Little Chambers' nine aces, for a 1.13 ace per set average, led the way. Lulu Uluave (35 digs), Bower (26 digs), Davis (25 digs), Little Chambers (22 digs) and Elli Mortensen (17 digs) all recorded double-digit digs.
BYU saw Davis and Little Chambers post double-doubles against the Wildcats before Bower joined the duo for three double-doubles against the Sun Devils, but their efforts were not enough in the pair of road defeats.
Despite the losses, the Cougars remain in the top 18 nationally in both kills per set and assists per set, ranking No. 17 in kills (13.96) and No. 18 in assists (12.99). BYU is second in the Big 12 in aces per set, assists per set, hitting percentage, kills per set, total asissts and total kills, while leading the league in total aces (167).
The Cougars pace the conference in three statistics individually. Bower's 10.33 assist per set, Kemavor's .364 hitting percentage and Bower's 985 assists all rank first in the Big 12. Bower is No. 13 and No. 15 nationally in assists per set and total assists. Davis' 410 kills are 21st in the country.
A week after its last match, BYU gets set for the first of two matchups with Utah on Friday night.
Utah (11-3, 3-10 Big 12)
- The Utes dropped both of their matches to Top 25 teams last week, falling in four at then-No. 16 TCU before being sweep at then-No. 23 Baylor.
- Utah also had a single-match week this week. The Utes' last played on Sunday in Waco, Texas.
- Head coach Beth Launiere is in her 36th season. She is 685-438 (.610) in Salt Lake City since 1990.
- BYU leads the all-time series, 78-30. The two teams split last year's meetings, with each team winning their home match. The Cougars are 27-16 in Salt Lake, and last won at Utah in 2022, a four-set match.
After its in-state matchup, BYU will begin a thee-match homestand leading up to Thanksgiving, hosting Arizona, No. 13 Kansas and Utah for a second time in a four match-span.
